Pet Sponsorship FAQs

Pet Sponsorship FAQs

Here are the answers to some common questions about pet sponsorship. If you have another query, which isn't answered below, please email us at: info@sponsormebetter.org.uk

What will my sponsorship money be used for?

Your sponsorship money will help pay for the specialist medication and veterinary check-ups of your selected pet and others, with similar long term conditions, now and in the future.

Why can't the pets' owners afford their veterinary bills?

Circumstances vary for each owner. Some are pensioners and their pet is their only constant companion. For others, their financial circumstances have changed since they bought their pet, they are all in receipt of means tested benefits. Whatever the reason, these pets have loving homes and we want to make sure they receive the treatment they need.

Will I be my pet's only sponsor?

These pet patients need all the sponsors they can get. The veterinary check-ups, ongoing treatment and daily medication they need are very expensive, so we hope to get more than one sponsor for each pet.

How often will I hear from my sponsored pet?

You will receive information specifically about your selected pet patient every 6 months. You will also be kept informed about PDSA by a regular newsletter.

I am having difficulties setting up my sponsorship. What should I do?

Please email us at: info@sponsormebetter.org.uk or call us on 0191 510 6800.

Could you have too many sponsors for one pet?

If one pet receives more sponsors than it needs to cover its treatment, we will use the additional funds to treat pet patients with similar conditions. Or those living in similar circumstances. With more than 300,000 pet patients that rely on PDSA, the need is great.

What happens if my pet dies?

In the event that the pet you have chosen to sponsor passes away, you will be contacted and invited to sponsor an alternative pet. Of course if at that point you elect to end your sponsorship you are at liberty to do so.
